There's no place like home for the McCook Bison, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Gering 48-46. For McCook, this counts as revenge for the 49-47 loss Gering walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Gering saw an underclassman step up: Jacelyn Brown scored nine points along with six rebounds and six steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Makenzie Todd, who scored 12 points along with three steals.
McCook's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Gering, their loss dropped their record down to 6-15.
McCook didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 44-30 defeat vs. Scottsbluff on the 10th. Gering has also already played their next game, a 67-47 defeat against North Platte on the 10th.
