Baseball Recap: Conant Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Conant's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Buffalo Grove Bison a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Cougars have won six games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Lucas Olson looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Conant got a massive performance out of Alex Martinez, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave Martinez a new career-high. Jacob Szpiganowicz was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run and five RBI.

Conant kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Buffalo Grove didn't got any.

With the victory, Conant broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-5-1. As for Buffalo Grove, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost nine of their last 12 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Conant will square off against Barrington at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Buffalo Grove, they will challenge Hoffman Estates at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Hawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.59 runs per game on average), something the Bison will no doubt try to take advantage of.
