The East Grand Forks Green Wave's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 40-7 defeat at the hands of Detroit Lakes. While losing is never fun, East Grand Forks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 107th, while Detroit Lakes is ranked 18th).
Mason Carrier continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Detroit Lakes, rushing for 107 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Caden Strand was another key contributor, throwing for 152 yards and two touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes.
East Grand Forks' defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Detroit Lakes, their victory was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Grand Forks will take on Thief River Falls at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Detroit Lakes will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Rocori at 1:00 p.m. on October 28th.
