George Washington had lost five straight, but after bumping their record up to 5-14 on Thursday that streak is in the rearview. They came out on top against the Dakota Ridge Eagles by a score of 21-17. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Patriots also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2021.
Amelia Nelson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in August.

In other batting news, Leilani Martin was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Arellano, who went 4-for-6 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple.
George Washington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
As for Dakota Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. On the bright side, the 17- run effort marked their highest-scoring game to date.
On Dakota Ridge's side, Ellie Scheider put in work no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and eight unearned) runs off six hits. Scheider was also big at the plate, firing off four doubles, two RBI, and one run while going 5-for-6.
George Washington didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 loss against Northfield on the 3rd. As for Dakota Ridge, they have also already played their next matchup, a 14-2 win against Pomona on the 3rd.
