Simeon is 8-2 against Solorio since May of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Wolverines will host the Sun Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Simeon has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Simeon came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Von Steuben, falling 11-4.
Antonio Porterfield made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Dequan Luster was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Solorio was a bit more limited in their contest on Monday. They fell just short of Simeon by a score of 3-2. The Sun Warriors haven't had much luck with the Wolverines recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Solorio also got a good showing from Tony Bautista, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Bautista has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Solorio saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robert DeMateo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. DeMateo is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Simeon's loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Solorio, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Simeon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Solorio struggles in that department as they've averaged .470. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Simeon skirted past Solorio 3-2 in their previous meeting on Monday. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Sun Warriors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
