The Aspire Langston Hughes Academy Titans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Fortune Early College by a score of 45-42.
Fortune Early College got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Iliana Baleisuva out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Aniyah DuBose, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and six assists.

Aspire Langston Hughes Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Turlock Christian at 6:30 p.m. on December 29th. Turlock Christian comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. Fortune Early College will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on John Adams Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 9, 2024. John Adams Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Fortune Early College likes a good challenge.
