Boron is a perfect 3-0 against Trona since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Bobcats will host the Tornadoes at 3:15 p.m. Boron is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Boron took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Eastside as they made off with a 17-5 victory. The Bobcats' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jalen York made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. York was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Malachi Rucker, who went 3-for-5 with one home run, seven RBI, and two runs. Those seven RBI gave him a new career-high. Geordyn Rundblade was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Boron always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eastside only posted an OBP of .400.
Meanwhile, Trona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against Non Varsity Opponent, falling 16-2.
Johnny Meraz made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Jon Gammett, who earned one RBI and two stolen bases.
Trona's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Boron, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Boron got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2022 against Trona by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tornadoes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
