Tranquillity is 0-10 against the Horned Toads since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tranquillity Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Coalinga Horned Toads at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Tranquillity has struggled recently with 16 defeats in a row, while the Horned Toads will arrive with three straight wins.
Last Tuesday, Tranquillity took a serious blow against the Eagles, falling 57-17.
Meanwhile, Coalinga stacked a 14th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dos Palos 66-24 on the road. Given Coalinga's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 461st, while the Broncos are ranked 1259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Coalinga's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Breeze Aispuro led the charge by scoring ten points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Aispuro has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julia Gressman, who scored ten points.
Tranquillity dropped their record down to 0-21 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Coalinga, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.
Tranquillity was dealt a bruising 70-22 defeat at the hands of the Horned Toads in their previous meeting back in January. Can Tranquillity avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
