Video: Top 10 Games of the Week(9) De La Salle (Concord, Calif.) vs. Foothill (Pleasanton, Calif.)
Saturday, 7 p.m. Pacific timeWhy it's big: Unbeaten Foothill will do its best to play David to De La Salle's Goliath when the teams meet Saturday night for the North Coast Section Division I championship.
No. 9 De La Salle (11-1) picked up its 25th-consecutive win over an in-state team and 269th-straight win over a NorCal opponent when it crushed Pittsburg last week, 70-14.
While De La Salle is the hands-down favorite to beat Foothill and earn its 24th-consecutive NCS crown, the Falcons (12-0) won't go away without a fight. Foothill is riding high after pulling out a 55-54 win against then-undefeated Antioch last week, despite allowing 390 rushing yards and six touchdowns to Alabama-bound junior running back Najee Harris.
Names to watch: Quarterback
Anthony Sweeney needs only 57 rushing yards to become the third De La Salle player to reach 1,000 yards this season. Fellow seniors
Antoine Custer and
Andrew Hernandez, who both average more than 10 yards per carry, already reached the mark.
Though overshadowed by Harris' performance, Foothill running back
Isaiah Floyd also had a huge game last week. The 5-foot-7, 165-pound senior ran for over 200 yards with four touchdowns. He has 1,786 yards and 36 total touchdowns this season.
