After four games on the road, Brawley is heading back home. Having just played yesterday, they will get right back to it and host the Rancho Mirage Rattlers at 10:15 a.m. on December 28th. Hopefully Brawley is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rancho Mirage in California (Brawley is ranked 586th, while Rancho Mirage is ranked 1318th).
Brawley meant business on Wednesday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Conquerors squad that has allowed just 29.54 points per contest. Brawley walked away with a 57-46 win over Desert Christian Academy.
Brawley can attribute much of their success to Breanna Montano, who scored 19 points, and Maliyah Jackson Montoya, who scored 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabela Trujillo Sepulveda, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Rancho Mirage, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They were outmatched by Xavier Prep on the road and fell 60-13. Rancho Mirage was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-4.
Brawley's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Rancho Mirage, they bumped their record down to 0-8 with that defeat, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Brawley against Rancho Mirage in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the squad secured a 49-15 win. Will Brawley repeat their success, or does Rancho Mirage have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
