Football Recap: Middle Tennessee Christian Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Shy Murphy and Alie Bangura

Middle Tennessee Christian was the 55-14 winner over Clay County when they last played one another back in September of 2016, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars took a 30-20 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Thursday. The Cougars' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Middle Tennessee Christian had strong showings from Alie Bangura, who gained 76 total yards and two touchdowns, and Shy Murphy, who rushed for 53 yards and one score on only seven carries.

Middle Tennessee Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Clay County, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 6-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. After each having a week off, Middle Tennessee Christian and Tipton-Rosemark Academy will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. As for Clay County, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will take on Red Boiling Springs on the 17th.
