After flying high against the Donna North Chiefs last Friday, the Weslaco East Wildcats came back down to earth. Weslaco East was beaten by Veterans Memorial 47-18 on Tuesday. Weslaco East was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 25-4.
Veterans Memorial's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Daniela Sauceda, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Sauceda hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Brianna Barnes, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Weslaco East's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Veterans Memorial, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 29-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weslaco East will take on Pace at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Pace comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Veterans Memorial, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mercedes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
