The Polytechnic Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Hoover Tornados at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Chadwick hit Polytechnic with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers fell just short of the Dolphins by a score of 7-6. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mark Hiddleson made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah LaPorte, who got three hits from his three at bats.
Santa Clarita Christian typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Hoover proved too difficult a challenge. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 12-6 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Tornados, who have now won three games in a row.
Kieran Sinta made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He has become a key player for Hoover: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-15-1 otherwise.
In other batting news, Isaiah Magana and Alex Weimar did most of the damage at the plate: Magana went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Weimar got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Weimar continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played.
Hoover was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Hoover's record is now 9-16-1. As for Polytechnic, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-14.
Polytechnic skirted past Hoover 10-9 in their previous meeting back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
