Despite the defeat, El Capitan had strong showings from Sammy Willis, who scored 11 points along with two steals, and Paige Worthem, who scored four points along with six rebounds.
Grossmont found their leader in underclassman Aakash Price, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Amethyst Price was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Grossmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
El Capitan is on the road again on Friday and plays Monte Vista at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th.
