El Camino is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Westmoor is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Colts will welcome the Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. El Camino is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
El Camino is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering South San Francisco just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 7-1 to the Warriors. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Colts couldn't push the score so high this time.
El Camino saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shea Tolosa, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Westmoor and Crystal Springs Uplands meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Rams sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over the Gryphons. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Rams have posted since May 5, 2025.
Cristian Fausto spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Westmoor is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-6 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Noel Acebedo was excellent, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2025. Leon Sakhel was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.
El Camino's loss dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Westmoor, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. El Camino has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .467. However, it's not like Westmoor struggles in that department as they've averaged .447. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went El Camino's way against Westmoor in their previous meeting back in March, as El Camino made off with a 19-4 win. Do the Colts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Rams turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
