The Madison Warhawks will be taking part in a tournament against the Santa Fe Christian Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Madison 2.5, Santa Fe Christian 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Things were looking good for Madison after they put the first points on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of La Jolla Country Day by a score of 4-3.
Jeremiah Jennings was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits.
On the hitting side, Jack O'Toole was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, Santa Fe Christian was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They fell just short of University City by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since May 7, 2024.
Santa Fe Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Noonan, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Santa Fe Christian, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Madison has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Santa Fe Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
