The California City Ravens will take on the Del Oro Suns at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (California City has three straight wins, Del Oro has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
California City will bounce into Saturday's match after beating Rosamond, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Ravens blew past the Roadrunners 10-1 on Friday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 21, 2023, but that streak is no more.

Blake Moore made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 18 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in 11 consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. California City is 7-2-1 when Moore posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.
In other batting news, Donnie Hogan was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kevin Hightower, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
California City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Del Oro came up short against Foothill on Thursday, falling 17-5.
California City pushed their record up to 12-9-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Del Oro, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-14.
California City took their victory against Del Oro in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Will the Ravens repeat their success, or do the Suns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
