The North Cross Raiders's five-game losing streak dating back to last season came to an end on Friday. They put the hurt on The Covenant with a sharp 62-38 win. That 62-38 margin sets a new team best for North Cross this season.
Leading North Cross to victory were Antonio Mack and Jesiah Hines. Mack scored 31 points along with four steals, while Hines scored 23 points along with six steals. The game was Mack's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jaziel Hart was another key contributor, scoring three points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.
Despite the loss, The Covenant still got an impressive performance from Grant Cook, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Max Bachman, who scored five points.
North Cross' win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3. As for The Covenant, they bumped their record down to 2-3 with that loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.
North Cross' road trip will continue as they head out to face Fredericksburg Christian at 3:30 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Fredericksburg Christian focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Wednesday. As for The Covenant, they will head out on the road to face off against Boys' Home at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boys' Home comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
