Antonio Stone made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stone was even better at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing seven bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jamario White was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Dontavious Crowder was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
South Atlanta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Therrell came up short against Coosa on Wednesday and fell 9-5. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Chase Gray made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
South Atlanta's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Therrell, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
Therrell's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Atlanta has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .589. It's a different story for Therrell, though, as they've only averaged .280. Will they be able to contain South Atlanta's hitters?
South Atlanta might still be hurting after the 21-0 loss they got from Therrell in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can South Atlanta avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
