The Costa Mesa Mustangs lost against the Santa Ana Saints back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Costa Mesa took a 43-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of Santa Ana. Costa Mesa has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Costa Mesa's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mya Martinez, who scored eight points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emi Kamikihara, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Costa Mesa has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 15 of their last 18 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Santa Ana, their victory bumped their record up to 11-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Costa Mesa's road trip will continue as they head out to face Saddleback at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. Saddleback is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Santa Ana, they will head out on the road to take on Orange at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
