The Redwood Rangers's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Centennial Golden Hawks at 6:30 p.m. on December 12th. Centennial took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Redwood, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Redwood had just enough and edged Porterville out 51-48. Given Redwood's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Porterville is ranked 457th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Redwood can attribute much of their success to Sydney Calderon, who scored 10 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 steals, and Brooklyn Tayo, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Tayo is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now stole two or more in the last five games she's played. Aryel Chavez was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Centennial's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shafter.
The losses dropped Redwood to 6-3 and Porterville to 5-4.
Redwood lost to Centennial on the road by a decisive 45-28 margin in their previous meeting on Friday. Can Redwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
