Cheyenne Mountain extended their winning streak to seven on Monday, bumping them up to 10-1. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Air Academy Kadets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Red-Tailed Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.
Addison Gutschick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Cheyenne Mountain got a massive performance out of Michaela (MJ) Ewen, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave Ewen a new career-high. Landri Winter also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Cheyenne Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive games.
Having lost for the first time this season, Air Academy fell to 10-1-1. The loss was their first of the season.
On Air Academy's side, Keira Finkle made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Finkle, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.
Cheyenne Mountain has already played their next matchup, a 14-3 loss against Lutheran on the 19th. As for Air Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-4 defeat against Palmer Ridge on the 18th.
