There's no place like home for Valwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-4 margin over the Grace Christian Academy Cougars on Thursday. The Valiants might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.

Reavis Barnes tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four).

At the plate, Maddox Coile was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Valwood: the team is 8-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Triston White, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Valwood pushed their record up to 13-7 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Grace Christian Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valwood will welcome Deerfield-Windsor at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Valiants' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Grace Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against Crisp Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
