Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Silverado). Everything went their way against the Barstow Aztecs on Wednesday as they made off with a 14-5 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their two-run performance the matchup before.
Nico Padilla was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. Padilla was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Micheal Bejarano was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he hit this season. Another player making a difference was Jace Weiss, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Silverado's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6. As for Barstow, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-6.
