Edina scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Minnetonka, 27-20. At the time, the Skippers were ranked third in the state, while the Hornets were 41st.
Edina was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Minnetonka. Reed Boltmann's team came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 41 last week.
Nick Rooney provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Dave Nelson's team fell to the Hornets. He completed 24 passes for 248 yards and also ran for 43 yards. Rooney's key target this week was Braden Sikes, who caught 8 passes for 122 yards.
Troy Peterson threw for 153 yards and 3 touchdowns. He was 9-13 with 0 interception.
Ian Cote was the most successful running back in Lake this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 69 yards as the Skippers lost to Edina. Rooney also contributed to the rushing game with 43 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Minnetonka's Rooney and Mitch Felknor have proven to be a lethal combination. Rooney has thrown for 1,456 yards this season, while Felknor, a 6-foot-4 receiver, has 42 catches for 623 yards. Anthony Anderson from Eden Prairie leads the league in rushing with 449 yards.
The most important game in the league this week will be the match up between the Skippers and the Eagles. Minnetonka enters the game ranked third in the state, while Eden Prairie ranks first.
The Skippers' offense has recorded 195 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Mike Grant's team has permitted only 65 on the year.
There should be lots of points scored when Minnetonka and the Eagles face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Skippers comes in having scored 195 this season, while Eden Prairie has scored 149. Minnetonka scored 20 points last week as it fell to the Hornets.
Wayzata took down Hopkins 40-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
