The Canyon Cowboys posted their biggest victory yet this season on Tuesday. They really took it to Golden Valley for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-16 win at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-4.
Josie Regez was her usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropping a double-double on 43 points and 11 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Taylor Ford, who scored two points along with five assists and two steals.
Canyon has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-12 record this season. As for Golden Valley, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon will take on Valencia at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Valencia is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Golden Valley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lakeview Charter at 3:30 p.m. on January 24th. Lakeview Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matchups -- so hopefully Golden Valley likes a good challenge.
