After four games on the road, Piedmont is heading back home. They will take on the Castro Valley Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Piedmont will be strutting in after a win while Castro Valley will be coming in after a loss.
Piedmont put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Wednesday. They blew past San Leandro 55-20 on the road. Given Piedmont's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while San Leandro is ranked 648th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Castro Valley suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Alameda, falling 71-38. Castro Valley has struggled against Alameda recently, as their match on Thursday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Piedmont pushed their record up to 14-3 with that win, which was their 20th straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.7 points per game. As for Castro Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 8-11.
Everything came up roses for Piedmont against Castro Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the squad secured a 77-33 victory. Does Piedmont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Castro Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
