Hawthorne blew Lennox Academy out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Saturday Lennox Academy got their revenge. The Cougars fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Cougars have suffered since April 30, 2024.
Santiago Garcia made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Culver City waltzed into their contest on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. Everything went their way against the Wildcats as they made off with an 8-1 victory. The Centaurs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matchups by seven runs or more this season.
Niko Weber Smith looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Devin Asamura-Halll, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Carbo, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Culver City pushed their record up to 15-6 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Hawthorne, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hawthorne hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Culver City struggles in that department as they've averaged .355. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
