The Gunn Titans will be playing at home against the Mountain View Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Gunn will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 789th, while Mountain View is ranked 305th).
Last Friday, Gunn was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 34-29 to Cupertino.
Meanwhile, Mountain View escaped with a win on Friday against Milpitas by the margin of a single free throw, 41-40. The victory was just what Mountain View needed coming off of a 59-38 defeat in their prior match.
Mountain View got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Alana Hernandez out in front who scored 12 points along with two steals. Hernandez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ellie Westgate, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Gunn has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Mountain View, they pushed their record up to 17-5 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
