The Rio Linda Knights struggled with assists on Thursday (the Whitney Wildcats had 1200% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Rio Linda was beaten by Whitney 64-33.
Rio Linda's loss came despite strong showings from Savannah Grant and Jalyssa Johnson. Grant scored 4 points along with 15 rebounds, while Johnson scored 5 points.
Whitney's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kendall Dykstra led the charge by scoring 17 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Tylie Kitchen, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds.
Rio Linda's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Whitney, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Rio Linda will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Casa Roble at 4:00 p.m. on December 8th. Casa Roble will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 1069th, while Rio Linda is ranked 505th). As for Whitney, they will face off against Sacramento at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Sacramento focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up five on Thursday.
