Softball Recap: Pine Creek Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Pine Creek had won five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Wednesday they bumped up to 7-0 to make it six. Everything went their way against the Castle View Sabercats as they made off with an 18-11 victory. The Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Pine Creek got a massive performance out of Kailani *Kai* Shideler, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI Shideler has posted since back in October of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Layla Laramie, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI.

Pine Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .382 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

As for Castle View, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-5. Even though they lost, their still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.8 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

On Castle View's side, Jaymee Vesque stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that Vesque has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Sophia Holland, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

Looking ahead, Pine Creek will square off against Erie at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 10.6 runs per game this season. As for Castle View, they will challenge Dakota Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Sabercats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 7 runs per game this season.
