The Poly Engineers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They came out on top against Aberdeen by a score of 79-71. Given Poly's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Aberdeen is ranked 135th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Poly's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chaz Fisher led the charge by scoring 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those 18 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Elisha Kutcherman, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds.
DARION PARRIS and AUSTIN CARTER certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. PARRIS scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while CARTER scored 18 points along with seven assists. The game was PARRIS's eighth in a row with at least ten points. JUSTIN FRANKLIN was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Poly and bumps their season record up to 5-2. As for Aberdeen, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.
Poly will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Lake Clifton at 5:15 p.m. on January 4, 2024. As for Aberdeen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Elkton at 6:45 p.m. on January 5, 2024.
