Leadership Public Schools Richmond proved they can win big last Friday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Aspire Richmond Ca. College Preparatory Academy Grizzlies 8-6. Winning may never get old, but the Pumas sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Rene Lopez made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 14 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Landon Grisby was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brayan Bustos also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.
Leadership Public Schools Richmond pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
