The St. Francis Sharks waltzed into their contest on Thursday with 13 straight wins but they left with 14. They came out on top in a nail-biter against North Monterey County and snuck past 48-45. That result was just more of the same for these two, as St. Francis also won the last time the pair played back in January.
St. Francis was led to victory by Maya Calfee and Nevaeh Litel. Calfee scored 17 points, while Litel scored 18 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Calfee has scored at least a third of St. Francis' points.
St. Francis pushed their record up to 19-2 with that win, which was their 12th straight on the road. As for North Monterey County, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-7.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Francis will take on Marina at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully St. Francis is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in California (they are ranked 415th, while Marina is ranked 1102nd). As for North Monterey County, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Pacific Collegiate at 1:00 p.m. on February 10th. North Monterey County is facing Pacific Collegiate at the right time seeing as Pacific Collegiate is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
