Santa Paula is 8-2 against Fillmore since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Santa Paula Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the Fillmore Flashes at 7:00 p.m. Santa Paula is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
Last Tuesday, Santa Paula didn't have too much trouble with Malibu on the road as they won 54-38.
Santa Paula got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyse Ramirez out in front who scored nine points along with six steals and five rebounds. Ramirez hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. Aryanna Lopez was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Fillmore's five-game losing streak came to an end on Friday. They had just enough and edged Hueneme out 28-26. The victory was just what Fillmore needed coming off of a 62-27 loss in their prior match.
Santa Paula is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Fillmore, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-8.
Everything came up roses for Santa Paula against Fillmore when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 58-8 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santa Paula since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
