Baseball Recap: Mater Dei Catholic Drops Season-High Score on Sweetwater

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mater Dei Catholic). They were the clear victors by a 22-6 margin over the Sweetwater Red Devils on Monday. The Crusaders haven't had any issues with the Red Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Xavier Castro looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Mater Dei Catholic's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Kaij Ordaz was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Noah Cook, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Mater Dei Catholic lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sweetwater didn't launched any home runs.

Mater Dei Catholic picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 8-12. As for Sweetwater, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8.
