The Pine Bush Bushmen will head out on the road to face off against the Middletown Middie Bears at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Pine Bush was not the first on the board last Friday, but they got there more often. They enjoyed a cozy 35-19 win over Kingston. The win was just what Pine Bush needed coming off of a 34-14 loss in their prior game.
Plexico Brooks got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 226 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. Logan Hawley also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Middletown can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Friday. They blew past Valley Central 42-14 on the road. Given Middletown's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 53rd, while Valley Central is ranked 335th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Pine Bush's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-5. As for Middletown, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-1.
Pine Bush might still be hurting after the 34-14 loss they got from Middletown when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Pine Bush avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
