Atkinson County hasn't had much luck against Clinch County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rebels will head out to face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Atkinson County came out on top against Turner County on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run fifth inning. The Rebels never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won five in a row.
Meanwhile, Clinch County made easy work of Brooks County on Monday and carried off a 14-0 victory. Considering the Panthers have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Sophie Corbitt was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Clinch County let Addy Barber and Alyssa Giddens run wild. Barber went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI, while Giddens went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Giddens a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Briley Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Clinch County lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brooks County didn't launched any.
Atkinson County's record now sits at 5-10. As for Clinch County, their record is now 13-6.
Atkinson County suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Clinch County in their previous meeting on September 4th. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
