The Monterey Trail Mustangs are still undefeated this season after their contest against the Arcata Tigers on Thursday, but the Arcata Tigers came as close as anyone has to beating them. Monterey Trail sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 74-71 victory over Arcata. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Monterey Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Alia Wilson, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Youngblood, who scored 18 points.
Monterey Trail pushed their record up to 5-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points per game. As for Arcata, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.
Monterey Trail won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Oak Ridge at 8:30 p.m. on December 15th.
