The Paramount Pirates will take on the Mayfair Monsoons at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Paramount 3.2, Mayfair 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Paramount's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over Firebaugh. Considering the Pirates have won nine games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacob Lara and Luis Banuelos made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Lara pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Banuelos tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Lara went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Banuelos went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits Lara has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Alejandro Trujillo was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Hector Diaz, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Paramount always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .579. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Firebaugh only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Mayfair gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Lakewood by a score of 6-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Monsoons.
Spencer Cummins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Aidan Sullivan, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Another player making a difference was Jacob Brown, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Paramount's victory bumped their record up to 18-4. As for Mayfair, their win bumped their record up to 15-5.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Paramount has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. However, it's not like Mayfair struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Paramount couldn't quite finish off Mayfair in their previous meeting back in March and fell 2-0. Will the Pirates have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
