The Rosamond Roadrunners came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 37-34 win over Quartz Hill. For Rosamond, this counts as revenge for the 37-32 defeat the Royals walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January.
Rosamond found their leader in underclassman Ariel Cain, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 19 rebounds. Cain hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Perez, who scored three points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Quartz Hill's loss came despite strong showings from Mandy Frozina and Ashantee Palmer. Frozina scored ten points along with seven steals and six rebounds, while Palmer scored 12 points along with three steals. That was a full 35.3% of Quartz Hill's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was My'arie Mcalpine, who scored five points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Rosamond is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-7 record this season. As for Quartz Hill, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rosamond will take on the Broncos at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop Union is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Quartz Hill, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Highland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Royals in California (the Bulldogs are ranked 255th, while the Royals are ranked 655th).
