Johnson Ferry Christian Academy is 0-3 against Scholars Guild Academy since March of 2024 but things could change on Monday. The Saints will challenge the Spartans at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Johnson Ferry Christian Academy lost 23-13 to Cherokee Christian on Tuesday. Even though they lost, the Saints' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).
Will Miller was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Grayson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Scholars Guild Academy waltzed into their matchup on Friday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. They never let the Crusaders get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Spartans have won 13 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jacob Chupp was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ty Newton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Henry Rumble was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Scholars Guild Academy pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Johnson Ferry Christian Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-11.
Johnson Ferry Christian Academy suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Scholars Guild Academy in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Saints avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
