West Valley hasn't had much luck against Elsinore recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Tigers at 3:15 p.m. West Valley will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
On Tuesday, West Valley beat Big Bear 11-8.

In other batting news, Nathaniel Navarrete and Maximus Vega did most of the damage at the plate: Navarrete went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Vega went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most runs Vega has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI.
West Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Elsinore entered their tilt with Temescal Canyon on Tuesday with 11 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 12. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 7-6 W against the Titans. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted against the Titans since March 2, 2022.
Andrew Jimenez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Jimenez was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Sam Poirier was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Robert Gates, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
West Valley's victory bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Elsinore, their win bumped their record up to 18-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. West Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .334. However, it's not like Elsinore struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
West Valley might still be hurting after the 7-0 defeat they got from Elsinore in their previous matchup on April 9th. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
