Westview has been on the road for five straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Marian Crusaders at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Westview will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 168th, while Marian is ranked 25th).
Westview suffered their closest defeat yet this season last Thursday. They fell just short of Omaha South by a score of 44-41.
Despite the defeat, Westview saw an underclassman step up: Stella Williams scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. Williams continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Olivia Ross, who scored five points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Marian came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 35.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 53-44 victory over Gretna.
Westview's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-8. As for Marian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Westview was taken down by Marian 68-28 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Westview was down 35-14.
