Twin River and Cross County are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2017, but not for long. The Twin River Titans will be playing at home against the Cross County Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Last Tuesday, Twin River lost to Aquinas on the road by a 65-48 margin. The Titans haven't had much luck with the Monarchs recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Colsten Rodriguez, who went 6 of 15 en route to 18 points. Corbin Rodriguez was another key player, putting up 15 points and seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cross County waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They strolled past the Huskies with points to spare, taking the game 58-39. 58 seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Twin River better keep an eye on Sawyer Anderson. He was instrumental in Cross County's win, going 5 for 7 on his way to 12 points in addition to five boards and four steals. With that strong performance, Anderson is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Thatcher Hanson, who posted eight points and six assists.
Cross County was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heartland only racked up ten assists.
Cross County is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points per game. As for Twin River, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Twin River has been crashing the rebounds this season, having averaged 30.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Cross County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.1 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Twin River came up short against Cross County when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 68-60. Will Twin River have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more basketball content.
