Chicago Washington extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Wednesday, dropping them down to 0-3. They came up short against the Simeon Wolverines, falling 20-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-5 on Monday.

Julian Gonzales was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Justin Soto, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
As for Simeon, they now have a winning record of 5-4. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Simeon's side, Jaylen Ware was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Those six strikeouts gave Ware a new career-high. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. He is becoming a predictor of Simeon's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-4 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Simeon got a massive performance out of Aiden Pondexter, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that Pondexter has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Antonio Porterfield, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Chicago Washington will face off against rival Jones at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Simeon is set to square off against their familiar foe Kenwood at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
