The Wood River Eagles won the last time they faced the Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Wood River had just enough and edged the Cardinals out 48-45. That's two games straight that Wood River has won by exactly three points.
Wood River's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie Morgan, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Sidney Frear, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charlee Richter, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ridley Sadd, who scored seven points along with seven steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Wood River and bumps their season record up to 10-8. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9.
Wood River will be playing at home against the Centurions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Centura is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games. Doniphan-Trumbull will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Buffaloes at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Hopefully Gibbon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 last Monday.
