For the second straight game, Shiloh will face off against Lakeside. The Generals will head out to face off against the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Shiloh has given up an average of 9.7 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Shiloh is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Lakeside on Monday. They came up short against the Vikings, falling 17-1. The Generals have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
For Lakeside's part, Noah Hathaway tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Hathaway has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Micah Von, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Andrew Booth, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Lakeside hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shiloh struck out nine times.
The victory (which was Lakeside's ninth in a row) raised their record to 10-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Shiloh, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8.
Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Shiloh has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like Lakeside struggles in that department as they've averaged .478. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
