Basketball Recap: Knight Piles Up the Points Against Sultana

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Knight on Wednesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew the Sultana Sultans out of the water with a 58-23 final score. The Hawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 25 points or more this season.

Knight found their leader in sophomore Morganne Shelton, who went 5 of 10 en route to 13 points and five assists. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Shelton. The team also got some help courtesy of Beautiful Mcbride, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards.

Knight was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why Sultana lost, don't look at Jayonna Waller. Despite the final result, she posted eight points and seven steals. Waller is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. Another player making a difference was Daphne Lopez, who put up three points and three steals.

The victory got Knight back to even at 3-3. As for Sultana, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Knight didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-44 defeat against Quartz Hill on the 12th. As for Sultana, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 38-16 loss against Victor Valley on the 12th.
