The Iowa Park Hawks fought the good fight in their overtime match against the Jim Ned Indians on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 14-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Indians. While losing is never fun, Iowa Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 493rd, while Jim Ned is ranked 202nd).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Jim Ned to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dean Guffey, who rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 96 yards and a touchdown. Guffey hasn't dropped below two rushing touchdowns for three straight games. Carter Wood did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 94 receiving yards.
Iowa Park's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Jim Ned, their win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-2.
Iowa Park will head out on the road to face off against Brock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brock will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Jim Ned, they will square off against Whitesboro at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
